The Sensory Beach Walk at Lossiemouth is a creative collaboration between Hein Mijzen (Life Coach for children with additional needs) and artist Lise Olsen.

The walk is aimed at families with children who have additional support needs, but they must be able to access and walk on the beach.

The slow-guided walk explores the experience of walking using all the senses. Our minds will drift while we feel the sand, smell the sea, hear the birds, and taste the salty air. Each activity is designed to enhance interactions with the world and challenge our language and motor skills.

Activities will include:

  1. Blindfold the Adults: a game working on communication.
  2. A Listening exercise: close your eyes and listen.
  3. Question Time: what does the sea smell like? Can you taste the air?
  4. Break, bring a snack and drink to enjoy.
  5. Sand Picture competition (prizes to be won). Tell us a story about your picture.
  6. Barefoot Statues: a game working on our mobility/agility.
