Gentle circular walk with lots of stops to hear stories attached to the trees in the centre of Elgin.

In conjunction with the team working to redevelop Grant Lodge, this walk explores the fascinating history, myths and hidden stories connected to the trees of around Grant Lodge and Cooper Park.

We’ll begin with an introduction from Helen Avenell, before setting off with Kath Todd on a gentle summer evening wander along the banks of the River Lossie. Helen Avenell is a local heritage progressional leading the National Lottery Heritage funded activity plan associated with the redevelopment of the building.

Humanity has long held a deep connection with the living world, and many trees carry tales of magic, travel, folklore and mystery. Along the way, you’ll discover rare and unusual species gathered from across the globe, alongside familiar trees that hold secrets of their own.

Join us to hear intriguing stories of the remarkable journeys these trees have taken to reach our doorstep.
