An historical circuit of Burghead.

Join historian Dr John Barratt on a  five-mile archaeological and historical circuit from Burghead to explore Dark-Age kingship, cliffs, quarries, and The Lowland Clearances.

 

All walks conducted by Dr John R Barrett, with archaeological support from Christine Clerk

The walk will pass over Clarkly Hill, which, if not very high,  is extremely muddy as we pass by the pig farm so please wear suitable footwear.

The walk is mostly on tarmac paths – except for a mile on rural paths, which can be muddy after rain. There are steps down to the well at Burghead and a few rural steps down to the beach. The walk will take 3-4 hours.
