Join the Tomintoul & Glenlivet Heritage Ranger for a guided walk from Allanreid, following the winding River Livet into the remote uplands of the Braes of Glenlivet. Along the way, we’ll uncover traces of the past hidden in the landscape—prehistoric hut circles, the enigmatic Clach Neart lifting stone, and the ancient routes once used as coffin roads, smugglers’ paths, and drovers’ tracks.
This walk offers a unique opportunity to explore the archaeology, striking scenery, and layered cultural heritage of one of the most atmospheric corners of the Glenlivet Estate. After a picnic stop on the moor, we’ll return to Allanreid.
In spring and summer, the hills come alive with the calls of oystercatchers, curlews, and lapwings—bring binoculars if you have them for a chance to spot these iconic upland birds.
