Evening walk from Dorenell Visitor Centre to Blackwater Lodge

Wed, 16 June 2021 @ 18:00 - 22:00

An evening walk to Blackwater Lodge led by the Dorenell Ranger Service with the chance to spot wildlife along the route. Bring a picnic dinner to eat at Blackwater Lodge.

We will take advantage of the long summer evenings to take a walk to Blackwater Lodge following the waymarked trail from the Dorenell Visitor Centre. The walk will take us through farmland, forestry and open moorland, following the Black Water River and ultimately crossing it to reach Blackwater Lodge. The Lodge itself is unsafe to enter, but it is still an impressive building to view from the outside and a suitable spot for a picnic dinner. We will then retrace our steps back to the Visitor Centre.

This time of day is often better for viewing wildlife with the potential to spot Red Deer, Black Grouse, Hen Harriers and Golden Eagles so be sure to bring some binoculars with you.
