We’ll be exploring the gorgeous Hinterland woodland near Findhorn\, making our way to the dunes\, and finishing at the glorious sea. \nBy the end\, my hope is you’ll be refreshed and relaxed after immersing in the restorative power of the natural world. You’ll take away nature-based practices that you can incorporate into your own outside time. A perfect way to recharge your weekend and prepare for the week and month ahead. \nOn this guided walk the aim is to: \n*Enjoy nature-based invitations to help bring the senses alive\n*Have dedicated\, protected time to connect with nature deeply\n*Allow space to slow down and be more present\n*Learn gentle practices to enhance your own connection to nature\n*Relax\, rest\, restore\, re-connect to yourself and the world around you\n*Be quiet with like-minded people sharing a common purpose \nForest Bathing has been proven to: \n-reduce stress\, depression\, anxiety and anger\, improving overall mood\n-reduce fatigue\n-improve sleep quality\n-improve focus\, concentration & memory\n-improve energy levels\n-reduce blood pressure and lower heart rate\n-increase NK cells\, that are key to supporting our immune systems and thus health\n-improve creative problem-solving\n-improve recovery from illness \n  \nTestimonials: \nFR – “It was so nourishing to connect with nature in this deep way. It’s so much easier in a group with an excellent guide\, though I also feel inspired to do more forest bathing myself. I’d highly recommend it to others.” \n  \nDB – ” I very rarely feel relaxed or peaceful but had an amazing experience\, thank you Danielle!”

SUMMARY:Drawn Into the Landscape: Geology and Art Along the Moray Coast
DESCRIPTION:Elgin Museum Volunteers Dave and Claire are your guides on this circular walk around the Portknockie coastline. We’ll explore the fascinating geology of the area\, learn about the heritage of the village\, and make a series of sketches along the way to create a visual story of our walk. \nWe’ll visit Portknockie Harbour\, Green Castle\, Bow Fiddle Rock\, the Whale’s Mou rock formation\, Jenny’s Well and Cave\, before returning through the village. Accessibility of part of the route is dependent on tide times\, so the start location and direction of travel will be confirmed nearer the time. \nThe route is over uneven ground and pavements\, and includes some steep terrain. We’ll also be following the path along the cliff tops\, where there is a steep drop on one side. A reasonable level of fitness is required. \nIt is essential that participants wear or carry suitable clothing and footwear that are appropriate for the path and potential weather conditions. Items to be considered include multiple layers\, waterproofs\, sturdy walking shoes or boots\, hats\, sunglasses\, insect repellent and sunscreen. If you have a small folding stool\, you may wish to bring this (or a small towel/blanket) to sit on while we sketch. \nSufficient food & liquid should also be carried. Toilet facilities are available at Portknockie Harbour. \nNo previous drawing experience is required! Price includes all necessary art supplies to capture a unique memento of your walk.

SUMMARY:Journey to the Centre of Findhorn Bay
DESCRIPTION:Robert the Bruce granted Kinloss Abbey the fishing rights of Findhorn Bay. Tidal fish traps (yairs) were set up in the Bay by the monks. Remnants of these will be seen. \nIn addition\, the opportunity will be taken to see other industrial archaeological items\, namely a Zulu fishing boat wreck from the late 19th century and the remains of Drem navigation lights from the Second World War. \nAll these remains are only revealed at very low tides. The low tide selected is the most suitable one during the MWOF\, when Low Water is at about 10:20 hrs.

SUMMARY:Kinloss Abbey - Preservation in Action at the Abbey
DESCRIPTION:Come and walk around the continuing changes we’re making. \nThis year’s Abbey Walk will show the progress the charity has made during the year to stabilise the locked Abbot’s House\, as part of a ‘walk and talk stroll’ around the whole site. There is a stepped 3-foot wall over which those with disabilities can be easily helped. Tours cover almost 1000 years of history\, from the Abbey’s Foundation as a monastery in 1150 by David I to its rise in prominence under the remarkable Bishop Robert Reid just before its decline after the Scottish Reformation in 1560\, aided by Oliver Cromwell. The interesting memento mori graveyard and its Commonwealth War Commission graves are included. \nKinloss Abbey is a Cistercian abbey at Kinloss in the county of Moray\, Scotland. The abbey was founded in 1150 by King David I and was first colonised by monks from Melrose Abbey. It received its Papal Bull from Pope Alexander III in 1174. Robert Reid was its nationally famous abbot in the 16th century just before the Scottish Reformation.
