Alison studied at Edinburgh College of Art and her early career was in animation including Oscar nominated “Fireman Sam” and “AArdman Animations”. Alison now works from her studio in Duffus, Moray, specialising in Scottish landscapes and seascapes. She draws on associations between memory and everyday familiarities, exploring how context and the sensory influence our experience and sense of belonging.
Alison visits Cove Bay daily and each day the beach is refreshed; smooth sand, new pebbles, new rock pools. Whilst observing the beach subconscious responses will also come into play. It is not just what you see but how you see it. Alison is warmly inviting you to join her as she walks to Cove Bay and shares techniques that will help you observe nature in greater detail by making small sketches.
